We established Deep Roots Farm NY in 2014 when we found available land through the Westchester Land Trusts' Land Match Program. We started farming on only an acre and a half in North Salem, NY, but after two great years our roots have spread. Thanks to the support of all of our customers, we've moved an hour north onto a beautiful 12-acre farm in Hudson, NY, and we've also taken on two new business partners.
The four of us, Scott, Stormie, Connor and Hunter, cooperatively own and operate the farm. We are all young farmers from Westchester, NY that are motivated by the common goals of living sustainably, growing unique and delicious varieties of fresh produce using organic methods and spreading awareness of food justice.
The Intersection of Farming and Community
Community is a very important part of the work we do. We aim to spread our knowledge about sustainability, healthy food and organic farming with others by working with local organizations, such as D.I.G. Farm, a nonprofit building bridges between farms and community. We're proud to work with their team to create engaging educational programs and volunteer experiences that help introduce others to a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle. Check out the photos below to see some of the work we've done in the past.
